This industrial engineering Group with a heritage of over 200 years in Hagerstown, MD is looking for experienced Sales Engineers. The Sales Engineer works as part of a team at the very front end of the business and leads the creation of high value customer proposals for precision grinding systems with advanced processes. The Sales Engineer collaborates with company applications, innovations, and engineering teams, and the customer, to develop the best technical and commercial solution for the application. The Sales Engineer evaluates specifications, risks, and costs to prepare a comprehensive, professional proposal for the customer, respecting set deadlines, pricing guidelines and corporate directives. The Sales Engineer interacts closely with the commercial team and is a main contributor in the strategy and mission to win the order. After the proposal becomes an order, the Sales Engineer is responsible for finalizing the information needed from the customer and launching the project into the company, including a precise hand-off to Project Management. This includes leading processes for machine order entry, budgeting and factory order creation and line-up.

Responsibilities: - Evaluates sales inquiries and opportunities and leads the process to determine the best technical and commercial solution for the customer’s application. - Analyzes and determines production requirements for targeted solution & develops a specific proposal for quotation to prospective customer. - Uses extensively Salesforce, SAP, Adept, and other important data to complete tasks accurately and expeditiously. - Communicate with automation and equipment vendors to establish ancillary equipment needs and receives vendor quotation for project pricing. - Collaborates and contributes to the presentation of proposals to customers as a subject matter expert. - Develops project budget, writes machine factory order, and leads subsequent order line-up meeting and launch of order into the company. - Directs work of others on a project basis. Must be quality and cost conscious and be able to objectively evaluate errors to implement processes that achieve our goals of on-time delivery, profitability, and customer satisfaction. - Works under self-imposed schedules and standards, collaborating with the wider team and other subject matter application experts, with only administrative guidance.

Qualifications: - Requires college education or the equivalent in practical experience with precision grinding technology and/or the grinding process in the manufacturing industry. (Engineering background a plus). - Must be able to translate ideas into accurate proposals and have sound judgment in selection of vendors, design, layout, components, tooling, etc., based on interacting criteria and team expertise. - Requires an understanding of budgets, margins, burden rates and profit and loss statements relative to each project. - Be able to develop and maintains updated knowledge of the competition, their processes, and the market prices. - Preferred - General and hands on knowledge of mechanical, electrical, software, grinding process, tooling, application design standards a plus. - Preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
